The Lower Valley: amongst fortresses and fairytale homes

In Gressoney-Saint-Jean, the elegant Castel Savoia awaits you. It was built by Queen Margherita as a summer residence and is surrounded by a picturesque park with views of Monte Rosa.

At the bottom of the valley, meanwhile, stands the majestic Bard Fortress, now an important cultural and museum centre. Media Valle: castles and towers overlooking the valley

Châtillon is home to two very different castles: Ussel Castle, an imposing medieval structure overlooking the valley, and Gamba Castle, which houses the regional collection of modern and contemporary art and is surrounded by a splendid park.

In Saint-Denis, the picturesque Château de Cly overlooks the surrounding countryside from above, whilst in Fénis one of the symbols of the Aosta Valley awaits you: towers, crenellated walls and frescoes make its castle one of the most fascinating examples of the Aosta Valley’s medieval heritage.

Upper Valley: castles amongst vineyards and orchards

On the outskirts of Aosta, the Royal Castle of Sarre – the former hunting lodge of Victor Emmanuel II – bears witness to the House of Savoy’s connection with the Aosta Valley.

As you continue towards Mont Blanc, you’ll come across Sarriod de La Tour Castle in Saint-Pierre and Introd Castle, set in a picturesque rural setting.
